Google org chart shows 194 most important execs under CEO Sundar Pichai

  • Insider has built an org chart of the 194 most powerful people at Google reporting to CEO Sundar Pichai.
  • According to internal data viewed by Insider, these are the top executives and staff helping Pichai run the company.
  • The data reflects org changes and new executive hires made over the past few months.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai oversees a $1.3 trillion company with more than 135,000 full-time employees. An internal org chart, viewed by Insider, reveals the 194 people who are helping him steer the ship.

Insider has identified the most powerful people at Google, in charge of the many parts of the tech giant’s internet empire, including search, advertising, hardware, and people operations.

This data is taken from a recent version of the internal org chart, which is made available only to employees, and which was seen by Insider. A Google spokesperson did not respond to Insider’s request for comment on this story.

Pichai’s direct reports include his team of “Google Leads” — a handful of executives who oversee various parts of the Google empire and have a direct line to the CEO.

The latest addition to that team is Fiona Cicconi, the former AstraZeneca HR chief who joined Google in January as its new chief people officer. The internal org chart reveals her list of direct reports including recruiting head Brendan Castle and chief diversity officer Melonie Parker.

The chart reflects some other recent changes, too. Google acquired Fitbit earlier this year, and its CEO, James Park, now reports directly to Google’s head of devices and services, Rick Osterloh, under the title of VP and general manager, according to the internal data.

The chart looks quite different from how it did a year ago. Last June, Google announced it would reorganize some of its biggest groups, shuffling longtime executives into new roles in an attempt to streamline its sprawling business.

Prabhakar Raghavan, Google’s head of search and a leading researcher in the field, now oversees ads, Assistant, Geo, commerce, payments, and the Next Billion Users initiative after last year’s reshuffle. His list of direct reports, as shown in the chart below, reflects how Prabhakar has become one of the most powerful people inside the company.

Ben Gomes, formerly head of search, now leads Google’s efforts in education. Jen Fitzpatrick, who previously oversaw Google’s maps business, now leads work on Google’s core infrastructure. Both continue to report directly to the CEO.

It’s not clear how often Google updates its internal charts. While the chart seen by Insider reflects several recent changes, including the addition of Cicconi, the HR chief, we spotted a couple of names who have left in recent months, including former chief people officer Eileen Naughton.

Caesar Sengupta, the head of Google’s Next Billion Users initiative and payments business, recently announced he would leave the company. He was reporting to Raghavan, and we have removed him from the below list.

Our chart also includes the “dotted-line” reports — relationships where the manager has some amount of oversight over the employee but are not directly responsible for them. While our org chart is focused on Google, dotted-line reports can overlap with other businesses under its parent company, Alphabet. The CFO of healthcare company Verily, for example, reports to Google and Alphabet CFO Ruth Porat in a dotted-line capacity.

It’s also worth noting that we are using the titles as they are shown on the internal charts, but you’ll often see these executives using different (often more descriptive) titles on LinkedIn and other places. For example, Lorraine Twohill has an internal title of SVP, global marketing, but she’s often referred to as Google’s chief marketing officer.
